Hire a car in Corfu

You don’t need a car when staying in the apartments as the village and the local tavernas are just a two minute stroll away, however, if you want to explore more of this beautiful island then renting a car in Corfu is a great idea.

Most rental cars come with a road map of the Corfu. Details of local care hire companies can be found on our useful links page.

Here are a few places you should try and visit during your stay.

Corfu Town

The capital and main port of the island. Built between two fortresses and full of superb Venetian buildings, Byzantine churches and flowered squares, Corfu Town is a real architectural jewel. The Old Town of Corfu, with its venetian-style neoclassical architecture, has been listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2007. With many café bars, restaurants and lots of shops, Corfu Town is a great place to spend a day.

Old Perethia

This historic ‘Heritage Protected’ village is situated just below Mount Pantokrator (The Almighty). It is the oldest example of the original mountain villages of Corfu. Records date back to the mid-14th century. Suspended in time, the village is an interesting insight into old Corfu. With 4 tavernas, all serving locally sourced and home cooked food, Old Perithia is well worth a visit.

Paleokastritsa

Situated on the West Coast, with Paleokastritsa beach this is the most famous and probably most picturesque beach resort of the island. Huge green cliffs surround the coast and many sea caves can be visited by boat around the resort.

Pantokrator Mountain

The highest point of Corfu, it stands majestically overlooking the North East corner of Corfu, with fantastic panoramic views of Corfu Town from the monastery at the top.
