Useful Information

Car Hire

It is not essential to hire a car when staying at the apartments, the local tavernas, San Stefano beach, the supermarkets and harbour are all just a 2 minute stroll away.

Apartment Maid Service

The apartments are regularly maintained by a team comprising of a maid, gardeners, pool man and the Apartment Manager who oversees the property. The maid will usually visit twice per week, including your arrival day, unless stated otherwise. The times of hours may vary, as may the number of hours worked. Her duties are to clean the floors and bathrooms and to do a limited amount of light cleaning. Towels and bed linen will be changed every 3/4 days. Linen is supplied.

Washing Machine

A communal washing machine is provided and can be used by guests in all the apartments. It may at times be used by the maid to wash some of the apartment laundry.

Ironing Facilities

An iron and ironing board are provided in the laundry cupboard for use by all the guests.

Internet, WiFi and Telephone Access

Please note that the apartments do not have telephones. The nearest public telephone is in the village, approx. 200 metres away. We recommend that you take a mobile phone in case of an emergency. Telephone services in Greece do not always have the constant quality of that in the UK.

We have installed free Wifi in all the apartments. Please note that the service has its limitations and may not at times be comparable to what is widely available in the UK. Specific limitations are detailed below.

  1. Broadband speeds vary depending on demand. Restrictions may be introduced by the service provider based on, but not limited to, technical issues and/or high demand. Unfortunately we have no control over these restrictions.
  2. Websites providing video streaming services such as YouTube and film/TV services such as Netflix, which require high data consumption may not be available.
  3. Video film downloads may not be available.
  4. Online video gaming may not be available.
  5. Video calling services such as Skype or Apple Face Time are unlikely to work well.
  6. Services offering Remote Desktop type facilities are unlikely to function in a manner which would allow the internet / wifi connection to be used for work or educational purposes.

We hope you can make the maximum use of the internet provided,  however, we are not in a position to guarantee:

a) The availability of the service at all times.

b) The speed at which information may be transmitted or received via the service; or

c) That the service will be compatible with your equipment or any software which you use.

We accept no responsibility for the loss of any internet connection or service or any subsequent consequences thereof.

Smoking

All the apartments are fitted with smoke detectors and smoking is not permitted in any of the apartments. We would ask that you only smoke outside. Please do not leave cigarette stubs in the garden.

Electricity

The electricity supply in the apartments is 220 AC with continental twin plugs. The supply is not always as constant as in the UK. You may find that the electricity will ‘trip off’ if too many appliances are used at once. If this happens, simply turn off some appliances and reset the main fuse box (the location and full details are in the apartment manual). If you still have a have a problem, please contact the Apartment Manager.

Breakages/Apartment Condition

Please refer to this section in our Terms and Conditions.

Check In/Check Out

Apartments are booked from 3pm on your arrival day until 10 am on your departure day. On your departure day the maid may arrive at your apartment as early as 8am.

The floors inside and outside your apartment may be wet due to the maid cleaning them on your arrival, departure and any other day when the maid service is carried out. please take extra care if this is the case. At other times, the outside patios and terraced areas open to the elements may become wet after a period of inclement weather or immediately after the pool has been cleaned. Again, please take extra care when walking across these areas.

Extra Cot

In all the apartments we can allow an extra cot (one per bedroom) which is a ‘travel’ type. Please specify on your booking confirmation if you would like to hire a cot.

Driving

In Greece, you drive on the right-hand side and overtake on the left. It’s worth noting that since 8 June 2015 the paper part of UK driving licenses was abolished. If you are hiring a car you will need to obtain a ‘check code’ from the DVLA no more than 21 days before picking up your car. Visit the UK Government website for more information. The minimum driving age is 21 years. Whilst driving, you are required by Greek law to have your driving licence, identification with photograph (passport), and the car rental documentation given by the car company.

Swimming pool

See the Health and Safety section for important information about the swimming pool.

Tourist Board

The Greek National Tourist Organisation is located at 4 Conduit Street, London, W1S 2DJ. Tel: 0207 495 9300.

Passports/Visas

Citizens holding a full British Passport do not need a visa to enter Greece. If you are not sure as to whether you need a visa, the telephone number of the Greek consulate visa information is 09065 508983. Some visas can take up to 4 weeks or longer to issue. Unless already on a parent’s passport, children/ infants need their own passport. Anyone 16 or over on their return date must have their own passport. Anyone aged under 18 must be travelling with an adult aged 18 or over and/or provide information as required by the local authorities.

For more information about your chosen destination and for latest travel advice we recommend that you also refer to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Mains Services

The water and electrical supply can be erratic in Corfu, especially during the months of June, July, August, September and during thunderstorms. At the apartments, we have a reserve water tank and our own well, which should keep the water flowing. However, in the unlikely event of an extend period of no mains water, the service to the apartments could become disrupted.  If this happens, we will endeavour to restore the service as quickly as possible.

Wildlife

Greece, is no different to most Southern European Countries when it comes to the occasional intrusion of unwanted bugs, for example, ants, mosquitoes and other insects. Their presence does not reflect the condition of the apartments, it’s just a reflection of holidaying in a warm country close to the countryside. Take care to cover and clear up food, especially dropped crumbs, which will help the situation. Please do not to feed any stray animals, they can become a nuisance and return to the apartment when you have left.

Security

Please don’t leave windows and doors open when you leave your apartment. All our apartments have safes to store any valuables, including passports and air tickets. If you don’t use the safe provided you may invalidate any insurance claim that you may have. Most types of credit and debit cards are accepted by the shops and Taverns. There are two cash machines in the village.

Special Needs/Requirements

The apartments have a steep driveway to access the property (no steps). Apartments 3 and 4 have level access to the main entrance door into the apartments.  Access to the pool and patio area is via stone steps or level path way (no steps). The apartments are not fitted with disabled person facilities.

Finally

Should you have any problem with your apartment, please report it to the Apartment Manager as soon as possible. It is their job to help you and to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible. You can contact the Manager on their mobile telephone via your mobile or from the pay-phone in the village. Their number is in the apartment information file.
